Play memories won't recognize my TRV230E Hi8 camera

Hi, I'm afraid I have the same old problem that people here are listing. Play memories won't recognise my TRV 230E Hi8 camera via the firewire/DV connection. I run windows 7. I've installed th software at least a dozen times but on a couple of occasions, a box has come up to say " can't connect your camera without downloading this extra piece of software" or words to that effect. I've clicked on it when it has come up but it just hangs for hours. Anyone know what it is and will it help. Oh and my cables etc are all ok because the camera works on an old XP/movie maker setup but it's very slow and poor quality. PS this is very important to me as I'm trying to download 30 years of family memories!


Cannot Use or Upgrade PlayMemories Home in Windows 10

Can anyone resolve this frustrating issue?  Details follow:

 

Contacting Sony:

In December 2016, I contacted The Sony Cyber-shot and Handycam Email Response Team.   After upgrading to Windows 10, I was having significant problems with Sony PlayMemories Home and my Sony Handycam.  Then a new Windows 10-compatible version available.  However, it was impossible to uninstall the old version and download the new version. 

 

The Sony team’s response on Dec 29, 2016 was

 

“Thank you for contacting The Sony Cyber-shot and Handycam Email Response Team.

 

I understand that you are unable to install the PlayMemories Home software in your computer. Let me help you with this.

 

Kindly follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

 

  • Uninstall the application PlayMemories Home in your computer.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Turn off the firewall setting of your computer.
  • Disable the antivirus application of your computer.

 

If the issue still persists, you may try the troubleshooting steps provided on the link below to further isolate the issue.

My response  on Jan 2, 2017 was:

 

None of this works.   I’m guessing that the PlayMemories Home software is an older version, and when I upgraded to Windows 10, it stopped working properly.  The installed version is 10.2.01.06240.    I cannot use the function that burns discs.  Nor can I import video files from my Sony Handycam (HDR-CX260V) to my PC.   When the application is open and the camera is attached to the PC via USB, the application sees photos but not videos on the Handycam.   Plus, the software keeps telling me that I need to register the camera.  I’ve now done that multiple times.

 

When I attempt to uninstall the software, I get an error saying that “13f11043.msi  [10.2.1] cannot install because a program or installer related to PMB or PlayMemories Home is running.  Please quit the program and try again.”  Trying it again doesn’t work.

 

When I open PlayMemories Home and then close it, I get a message that says a newer version is available.  When I select the option to update now, it attempts to download an installer file.   Then I get an error saying that a newer installer is available.  When I attempt to download the new installer, I get the same error.   I cannot get past this cyclic (repeating) error.

 

Next, I used my browser to go directly to the Sony PlayMemories Home web site while the application was closed on my PC.   I attempted to download the latest Windows version (5.3.00) directly from that web site.  I then got an error that says “cannot continue the PlayMemories Home installation because ‘PMB.msi” installation failed.  Try installing PlayMemories Home again.  0101-1008-1638. “   Trying it again doesn’t work.

 

I disabled my firewall and antivirus software and tried all of the above again.   Same errors.   I tried rebooting multiple times and that didn’t help.

 

Then I started looking for other ways to fix it.

  • I went to the link you suggested.  There is no virtual drive on my PC, so that does not appear to be the problem. 
  • The next suggestion involved the DLNA Off setting in the PlayMemories Home Setting Initialization Tool.   Unfortunately, I could not locate that tool.   It  apparently is not part of the older version of the software I have.
  • The next suggestion involved restoring the application to its default settings – again utilizing the PlayMemories Home Setting Initialization Tool.  I don’t seem to have this tool.

One Sony web page suggested that I check Task Manager and turn off any PlayMemories Home background processes.  I did find three of them and turned them off.  I then tried to uninstall and upgrade the old software again.  The  same problems were encountered.

 

I found a Sony web site with the title “PlayMemories Home Install Error – Windows.”  It involves a repair tool [PMH_Repair_EN.bat] that is reportedly designed for every version of PlayMemories Home.  It states that the tool is part of the PlayMemories Home application.  I could not locate it.   So I attempted to download it from the website (although it does not yet support Windows 10).   The repair tool failed to install.   If the Repair Tool does not solve the problem, the site recommends sending Sony three things:   PMY_Log_Files,  Compressed [PMBEnvCheck] folder, and screenshots or complete descriptions of errors when they occurred.   The last item is described above in this email. The contents of PMY_Log_Files and the Compressed [PMBEnvCheck] folder are attached.

 

Sony’s final response on Jan 23, 2017 was:

 

“Thank you for the response.

 

If the troubleshooting we have provided does not work, it is possible that the software PlayMemories Home is not compatible with the current operating system of your computer. Installing the software on a different computer is necessary to further isolate the issue.

 

Alternatively, you may use a different software to play the videos from your HDR-CX240V camcorder to your computer.

 

Note: Sony cannot guarantee correction operation on computers that are upgraded to the Windows 10 operating system and those with multi-boot environments.

converting AVI to MP4 - unknown error 32771

When trying to convert older AVI content to medium MP4 quality (having recently imported Sony Digital8 DV-AVI format using PMH import), at end of the MP4 conversion process the Conversion Results window displays, "An Unknown error occurred. (Error code: 32771)", immediately after which the generated MP4 is deleted.

 

process: Convert to MP4 and Save:  Video Quality: 1920x1080 25p/30p 14 Mbps

 

Following the error, I restarted PMH and tried again - the same problem occurred again.

 

 

As a workaround, I used the opensource "VirtualDub" program, created a copy of the original AVI file (simply performing a "direct stream copy") of both video and audio.  I then attempted to perform the conversion of the copied AVI to MP4 -- which completed successfully - no problems detected - resulting MP4 played fine.

 

 

OS: Windows 7

PMH Version: 5.3.00.12160

 

INPUT:

  FIle Size:  2.97 GB

  Video Format: DV / AVI

  Audio Format: PCM

  Duration: 14mn 15s

PMB 5.3 imports, but doesn't show new folders

Hello : 

Have been using PMB for a long time.
I attach my camera and can execute the import new files function.
This says it completes, however, the interface where I can view my folders show no new folders and no new files.

When I go to Windows Explorer the files are there.

 

I have tried running the "Add folder" function (which does show the new folders by the way) but they never get added to themain interface.
This has only been happening for the last couple of days... not sure what to check/do at this point.

Playmemories home bugs and Win10

Hi All,

 

I know this could be a combination of a lot of factors. Playmemories is causing my system to be non responsive.

 

It all started around the last major update of Playmemories Home in Oct/Nov-16 sometime. SInce that update, whenever my daughther is watching a number of videos using Playmemories Home, the system will become very unresponsive and will then require a reboot to fix the problem. Playing one or two videos seems to be fine but playing a lot of videos will cause the system responsiveness issues.

 

Environment Information:

  • System type: 64-bit Win10 Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.693)
    Memory: 15.9 GB
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz
  • Playmemories Home ver 5.3.00.12160

 

My gut feel is this a Playmemories Home bug. Can anyone shed anylight on this problem and how can I report this bug to Sony?

PlayMemories Mobile problem with Galaxy 4s and A7ii/A6000

I am able to connect my A7ii and A6000 to PlayMemories mobile. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy 4S (4.4.2)

 

 

My problem is the same for both cameras in that my camera control  functions are very limited. I have liveview and the only function is an exposure control arc. I can press the shuter button and that is it. Nothing else show such as shutter, aperture, ISO, white balance.  I thought maybe I had a firmware issue and updated by A6000 to the current version but there was no change. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

.modd files all of a suddon being created for EVER photo

So I go on my laptop today to do some work with some photos & I notice that every picture now has a second .modd file. I have had this laptop for a couple years now & have been running windows 10 for the last year. I have never had this issue before with my photos & never had these .modd files before either. It is causing a slowdown to my computer & creating thousands of unnecessary files. I cannot find a way to stop these files from being recreated. I do not want these files, nor do I really need play memories. I have tried to find a way to disable this, but it looks like from my research there is no real way to do that. . I work with a lot of pictures & use other software to edit & work with the photos themselves. I have been trying to research this issue & apparently it’s a file created by play memories so that's why I'm here, but I’m not finding any good solution to the issue

 

**I tried deleting the files, but they just are recreated as fast as I delete them.

 

**I have tried to uninstall play memories because I really don’t use it but I just keep getting the error that the installer related to play memories home is running, please quit program & try again. I’m at my wits end here, this is ridiculous.

Sony handycam and Play memories issues

Hello. We bought a sony handycam about 2 years ago and never had any issues with it, until we decided we wanted to burn all of our videos onto DVDs. I downloaded the Playmemories  (which is ****** and totally not user frinedly i hate it) and I found out that for some reason it only lets me  burn the videos recorded in AVHD not MP4. Well this wouldn't be a problem if I knew to turn off the dual recording mode! Most of the videos were taken in MP4 format (I didn't choose this, it was automatic), and I'm finding it impossible to  burn these precious videos to DVD. Can anyone help me out? The videos are of my son and are forever on my computer which is not  what we wanted. Any input would be appreciated.


Play Memories Home Converting videos when making Blu-Ray Disc. takes hours or days.!

Hello I have an issue with my Play Memories program taking days to make a Blu-Ray disc from the videos from my NEX-VG30E video camera. Some videos i import from the camera and click record to BD disc and it takes only a few minutes to record to the disc, other videos (all from the same camera) it says Converting and it takes hours and it gets to the point i cancel it. I let it go over night once and the next day it was only at 3% after a whole night of "converting" I do not know why it is doing this when the camera already records in the native blu-ray file system on the SD Card? does anyone have any idea what i can do?

PlayMemories Created Folder In my Computer is Empty of Photos put there in PM

All the folders created by playmemories by the date they were uploaded also show in my computer's files under Pictures. Except the one folder I myself created in play memories in which I dragged all the edited photos I wanted from the folders by date into the folder I created. The folder I created in play memories is in my computer but it is empty. In Playmemories all the photos are in this created folder but when I open same folder in my computer the folder is empty. And I cannot find these edited photos anywhere on my computer. I am not using PM online. I did some editing of these photos from my computer and not pm, I can't even pull up recent photos from this photo editor that I used once I moved them to the said created folder, I click on the file then it says "file not found". thanks!

Can't login to PlayMemories Online on my PC

Every time I try to login in shows the loading circle and then closes the pop-up window, but never logs me in. I've tried closing the program and opening it up again, restarting my PC, and even uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing works.

I am desperately looking for solution. I have Win 8.1 64bit PC with Playmemories Home software installed for more then a year. I have no issues with camera (a6000) or uploading photos from camera to pc. After recent software update to ver 5.3.01.02070 I cannot login into my online account. On the right top corner I have an option "Sign In to Playmemories Online". I click there, have popped out window, where I type my log and password. After that I have "spinning" wheel for 3 seconds and......nothing. It goes back.

There is no way to find direct support for Playmemories Home (PMH) software. I have been redirected to cameras, laptops, playstation support. Nobody can give me even an advise what can be a problem. I am trying to get email where I can write my request- it doesn't exist. Some of the reps told me that there was a recent update and server maintenance (02/22/2017), and that could be an issue. Today is 03/03/2017, and I still cannot see my online collections. I can download to my online account through browser (meaning that my login is working and problem is only with PMH software). 

I tried uninstall, reinstall, downgrade software to prior version, - no results.

This is my last attempt to get attention to my problem. Help.

Play Memories Home Freezes on Mac, as soon as I connect my HDR-SR11 on Mac OS 10.12.3

I've installed Play Memories Home directly from the Sony provided link for my specific camera.

When I plug the camera to my Mac, Play Memories Home runs automatically, and then keeps loading and loading. Then it becomes in a constant loading/freezing mode.

 

Is there anything I can do?

Ive been trying to log into my playmemories home account for the past 2 weeks because i have been wanting to import some photos to my phone from a recent trip but, everytime i try to log in it say that i need to update my account and that an email will be sent to me so i can do so and that it may take up to 24 hours but it's been two weeks and i still havent gotten the email and ive tried so many times it's insane that i havent gotten the email yet and it's very annoying because i can't share the pictures from my trip , because i dont always carry my dslr or laptop.

Activating Nightshot

FDR-AX53 - I don't understand why you can't activate NightShot while connected to PlayMemories Mobile. If I'm not mistaken, all this does is displace the IR cut filter. So, why can't you use it with PMM? If NightShot is already on, it turns it off. The NightShot button no longer works as well. To me this seems like a glitch or oversight. Why would Sony purposely limit users from using NightShot in PMM? It doesn't make sense... 

 

Proposed solutions: 

1) Update camera firmware that prevents camera from deactivating NightShot when entering PMM. 

2) More preferably, add a NightShot button within PMM to activate it remotely when desired. 

 

Please, engineers, provide a fix for this.

a6300: Timelapse app not working properly

I just had a live chat conversation with one of the guys at customer support. My problem remained.
 
I have a Sony alpha ILCE-6300. After going through initial struggle of installing the timelapse app on my newly bought camera 4 months ago, I had no problem with the app until today. I got an error message "Total number of content in this application has reached limit. Remove some content from this application. "
 
Restarting the camera didn't help, same with the app. I googled the problem and found this thread: https://community.sony.com/t5/PlayMemories/Help-with-error-total-number-of-content-in-this-application-has/m-p/588429. So I went ahead and reinstalled the app. That didn't fix the problem too. 
 
I reached out to customer support and we did try a few things. The technician had an idea that it might be camera's cache problem. I reseted camera settings (which deleted all my presets...) and then installed the app over again. Didn't help. He asked me to take pictures in burst mode. That worked. 
 
I would've just copied our conversation here but the technician turned on a survey I had to partake in and couldn't return to the conversation after...
 
Anyway, he gave me this link (https://www.sony.lt/pro/section/contact-support) which was supposed to be Lithuania Sony's customer support. Well, apparently there's no such thing. 
 
I need a fix of sorts as soon as possible, thanks. 
 
P.S. Memory card is a really good one and it seems to be working fine (burst mode test). 

Remote App: Play memories only displays 3 basic controls

Remote App Play memories only  displays basic controls  on my android 6.0 phone for Sony alpha 6000 camera.(shutter button, exposures and wide/tight ) I have used different lenses and settings, uninstalled and re-installed app several times. Any other suggestions or other reliable sorces for help. Thanks so much!

PlayMemories Home stopped combining AVCHD files

I have been working with PlayMemories Home quite for a while, successfully trimming and combining AVCHD files (m2ts extension) downloaded from my HDR-XR500 camcorder. All of a sudden, the program stopped combining files by issuing a message "unable to combine files" right after opening the Video Combining information window. It now happens with all files of this type, although trimming is still possible as before. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program (the present version is 5.3.01) but the problem persists. Can anybody help?

Cannot get Multi Camera control working!

G'day all, 
I'm hoping someone can save me from losing my mind . . . I CANNOT get MultiCamera control to work! 

Action Cams (I bought 4 based on being told MultiCam control was possible) 

FDR-X3000
HDR-AS50
HDR-AS50

PhoneiPhone 6s

iOS: 10.2.1

PlayMemories App Version: 5.8

Method: I followed these instructions carefully about 10 times! 

Results:
I can easily control one camera at a time with the PlayMemories App when in normal WiFi mode . . . My phone sees the camera in wifi settings fairly easily (very temperamental though, my home wifi constantly kicks the ActionCam off).

As soon as I change to MultiCam mode my phone cannot see any of the cameras in WiFi settings. 

I cannot see any external connections connecting to my Personal Hotspot as per the instructions. 

Can anyone here successfully operate multiple ActionCams from their phone? 

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 

I am going to post this in the Action Cam section as well - I'm not sure which aspect is the problem (the cams or the app).
